Visit Iceland, Iceland Travel Agency to Iceland Visit

Iceland is a refreshingly unconventional travel destination. The Icelandic nature is unspoilt, exotic and mystical with its spouting geysers, active volcanoes, tumbling waterfalls, towering mountains, vast lava plains and magical lakes. Iceland’s fjords, glaciers and highland plains present visitors with some of the most beautiful and enchanting places they will ever see, as well as a rare feeling of utter tranquillity. For those on a quest for action, Iceland’s pristine nature offers great potential for outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, horse riding, cave exploring, hiking, swimming, skiing, river rafting, kayaking and mountain safaris on modified four-wheel drives, to name but a few. Iceland supports a surprisingly diverse Nordic flora and fauna and is an ideal place for ornithology enthusiasts, while also offering some of the world’s best whale watching destinations

Suggested Itineraries

Depending on the length of your stay, you may wish to do the following:

Two days
Visit Reykjavík, take the Golden Circle Tour and bathe in the Blue Lagoon.

In Reykjavík, you could take the Greater Reykjavík Sightseeing Tour to get a good overview of the city, this tour only takes about 2.5 hours. The afternoon can be used to visit the museums in Reykjavík, bathe in one of Reykjavík’s thermally heated swimming pools, go shopping or take the Blue Lagoon Tour. Dining a traditional Icelandic lamb or fish at one of Reykjavík’s fine restaurants should complete the day. Some recommended restaurants are: Lækjarbrekka, Apótek, Seafood Cellar and Café Sólon.

The Golden Circle includes Gullfoss, Geysir and Þingvellir in South Central Iceland. This is the most popular tour in Iceland because of the variety of stunning landscape that can be seen in one day. The Golden Circle can also be easily combined with a Blue Lagoon Tour.

Another option would be to take a Super Jeep Tour around the Golden Circle since the main sights can become overcrowded, especially at weekends during the high season. The Super Jeep Tour avoids stopping at the same time as the tour buses and it can be tailored to the individuals needs. You will also be able to visit Langjökull Glacier in addition to Gullfoss, Geysir and Þingvellir. Snowmobile tours on Langjökull can also be added to the Super Jeep Tour.

Four days
In addition to Reykjavík, the Golden Circle Tour and The Blue Lagoon Tour you could also visit the highland area of Landmannalaugar and take one of the following tours: The South Coast, Snæfellsnes or The Langjökull Tour via the Kaldidalur mountain road.

One week (Option 1)
As above, and add a visit to Akureyri “the capital of the North”, and from there explore the volcanic formations and bird life of Mývatn and Krafla. We would recommend you to rent a car to drive to Akureyri and Mývatn, or fly to Akureyri and take a day tour from there to the Mývatn area.

One week(Option 2)
Rent a car and use the week to drive around Iceland on the circular Route 1. Route 1 is approximately 1340 km. and can be driven by a 2wd all year round, within a week without rushing too much. Places to stop and stay could be; Reykholt, Vík, Höfn. Mývatn, Akureyri, Stykkishólmur and Reykjavík (see self-drive tours).

Two weeks
As above plus, Skaftafell, Vatnajökull, Jökulsárlón, Vestmanneyjar and Jökulsárgljúfur. If you are planning to travel around the country for two weeks, renting a car gives you greater flexibility than using the scheduled bus service. If you are travelling in a group of two or more people, the cost of renting a car also works out cheaper than public transport. Bear in mind the highland areas are only accessible by 4WD. You can choose to rent a 4WD or to take one of our excellent guided tours through these areas.

One month
As above plus the Westfjords, Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk to Skógar trek, Askja, Kverkfjöll, Lakagígar and East Iceland.
