Itinerary

A 2.5 - 3.5 hour whale watching tour from Reykjavik harbour. Whales most frequently seen on tours with Elding are the Minke whales, Orcas, Humpback whales, Dolphins and Porpoises, and sometimes Fin, Sei and Blue whales.

Whale watching tours are scheduled from the old harbour in Reykjavik from beginning of April through October. If the weather conditions are to bad or if we believe the whale sightings will be better with departures from Grindavik, Sandgerdi, Keflavik or Hafnarfjordur which are small towns on the Reykjanes peninsula, we will change the departure place but only to do the best we can for our customers.

On tours with departure from Reykjavík SE and SW part of Faxafloi is covered. When departure is from Sandgerdi or Grindavik the area of the south and West Coast of Reykjanes peninsula is covered, often with a visit to Eldey Island.
Whales most frequently seen on tours with Elding are the Minke whales, Orcas, Humpback whales, Dolphins and Porpoises, and sometimes Fin, Sei and Blue whales.
In these areas we see many different species of seabirds such as the gannet, puffin, guillemot razorbill, cormorant, gulls, kittiwake, terns and many more. Eldey island is home to a Gannet breeding colony of 16,000 pairs.
It depends on the tide and sea state if we start the trip going to either Akurey or Lundey to wach the puffins (May 15.-aug 15.) There are no two whale watching trips the same, therefore, we have to be flexible and line the trips up regarding conditions, weather and sightings.

Children
We have a special play area for children inside the boat. There kids can have fun with plush whale and puffin toys, colouring books, and children´s books on whales and sea birds in may languages.
