 Day 1: Arrival/Reykjavik
Arrival in Keflavik, meet and greet followed by transfer to Reykjavik. If you arrive early, we recommend stopping at the Blue Lagoon on your way to Reykjavik (not included) and/or getting the Reykjavik Tourist Card which grants you access to all the museums owned by the city of Reykjavik, all the swimming pools in Reykjavik and all buses that run within the greater Reykjavik area. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavik. Day 2: The Golden Circle A full day drive, taking in some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland including Þingvellir National Park, the waterfall Gullfoss, the great Geysir area and Kerið. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Vík.  Day 3: The South Coast
Drive from Vík to Skaftafell National Park, one of the most beautiful places in Iceland. After you visit Skaftafell, stop at the extremely picturesque Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon on your way to the village of Höfn. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Höfn Day 4: East Iceland Drive from Höfn to Lake Mývatn in the northeast part of Iceland. Around Mývatn you will find attractions such as the Námaskarð pass, the lava maze of Dimmuborgir, Ásbyrgi canyon and Dettifoss—the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse around Lake Mývatn. Day 5: Lake Mývatn and Akureyri Start the day by exploring the surroundings of Lake Mývatn before heading to Akureyri, stopping on the way to enjoy the charming Goðafoss waterfalls. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Akureyri.  Day 6: Akureyri to Reykjavík
Drive from Akureyri back to Reykjavík. Sights along the way include Deildartunguhver, the largest hot spring in Europe; the beautiful Hraunfossar ‘lava waterfalls’ and the historic site of Reykholt. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík. Day 7: Departure Transfer to Keflavik airport with FlyBus. If your flight is in the afternoon you can stop at the Blue Lagoon and even take a little tour of the Reykjanes peninsula (not included). |
